Home & the Surrounding Territory

Home & the Surrounding Territory by Blythe Ayne - poetryMany of the 62 poems and short prose pieces in Home & the Surrounding Territory have been previously published. The volume also contains numerous photographs.

While there’s no place like home, it’s also true that home can be found anywhere, even if only for a few days. I grew upon the Nebraska prairie, near the Kansas gate to Oz, and I currently live in a forest not far from the Emerald city of Seattle. Minus the ruby slippers and flying monkeys, my life has been a whirlwind that from time to time has picked me up and set me down elsewhere.

However, I’m been quite content to settle where I currently lives, in a forest of fir and alder trees – and a few apple trees that occasionally kindly drop apples at my feet. I have yet to encounter an ill-tempered, apple-throwing tree.
